Starting a Blog: Week 13

Week 13 Pin

Hello my dear readers! For those who don’t know I decided that I wanted to chronicle my experience of starting a blog. The intent is so others can learn what it takes to start a blog, learn from my mistakes throughout the process, and to hopefully provide some humor and enjoyment to your day. If you want to learn how to start a blog, I created a tutorial on how to do so through Bluehost. (this post may contain affiliate links, but only those I personally use)

I’ve decided these weekly updates will be posted on weekends and will consist of 7 categories.

  1. Blog posts that I published
  2. Blog Improvements
  3. Personal Accomplishments
  4. Extra Income I earned
  5. Extra Income I received
  6. Goals I accomplished during the week
  7. Goals for Next Week

I know this will be very similar to my monthly income reports, but I think having weekly and monthly goals are going to help me stay focused and break my bigger goals down into smaller ones. This should help me in accomplishing my monthly goals, but also allow me to celebrate additional small successes that may happen throughout each week.

So this is the end of week 13 of the life of my beloved blog! I know I am posting this at the beginning of week 15 but I wanted to let you know why I was MIA during week 13. Honestly, I have no excuse. I had mystery shops each day during week 13, but I could have made time for my blog and chose not to. I’m disappointed in myself because I know how hard I’ve fought to get to where I am and I don’t want to lose momentum. So, I have a new plan which I will mention in the goals section below. However, I do apologize for the lack of activity on this blog and I will be improving this soon!

Blog Posts:

I did not post any other posts during week 13. I am sorry.

Blog Improvements:

I did not focus on my blog at all this week. I am sorry.

Personal Accomplishments:

  1. I completed several mystery shops (there haven’t been many available lately so this is a really good thing they are becoming available again)

  1. We deep cleaned our apartment this week!

  1. We packed and headed out to the family reunion in Williamsburg for next week!

Extra Income I Earned:

(If you would like to learn how you can start earning extra income, check out my Recommendations page) Please note I do not included Google AdSense income here because it isn’t confirmed until a month later.

Surveys: $0.15 (very low week)

Inbox Dollars: $20.70 (+$0.08)

Swagbucks: 1,444 points (+07)

Apps: (I got 35 kicks each time I walked into Best Buy)

ShopKick: 14,452 kicks (+70 kicks)

Mystery Shopping: $65.00 (my high-paying shop was rescheduled for a 2nd time)

Affiliates: $0.00

Referrals: $0.00

Extra Income I Received: $0.00

This Week’s Goals:

I decided that each week I will set 10 small goals for my blog. All of them should be helping me reach my bigger goals that I set each month.

So these were my goals for week 13. I did not work on my blog at all and I did not meet any of these goals. I am disappointed that I allowed myself to slack off as much as I did, but I can assure you I will not let it happen again.

  1. Apply and be approved to 1 new affiliate partner
  2. Grow my Pinterest account to 1200 followers
  3. Grow my Twitter account to 80 followers (I’m currently at 74)
  4. Work on my Tumblr Page.
  5. Research new themes for my blog
  6. Earn $200 in extra income (I have some big shops this week so I set my goal a little higher so I can push myself harder)
  7. Continue working through a blog improvements tutorial I’m taking
  8. Publish 2 posts
  9. Have content outlined for next week
  10. Add all the updated pictures I made to my previous posts

Next Week’s Goals:

I did not set goals for Week 14 nor did I work on the blog at all. Week 15 will be different!

Guys this blogging business is so much fun!!!! I am so committed and I can’t wait to see how my blog continues to grow! I do know that growing this blog has become a lot harder now that I have started my new position, but I plan to push through! I hope that you are feeling inspired to start your own blog or to follow your own dreams! If you’d like to start your own blog, I created a tutorial on how to do so using BlueHost.
