Starting a Blog: Week 16

Week 16 Pin

Hello my dear readers! For those who don’t know I decided that I wanted to chronicle my experience of starting a blog. The intent is so others can learn what it takes to start a blog, learn from my mistakes throughout the process, and to hopefully provide some humor and enjoyment to your day. If you want to learn how to start a blog, I created a tutorial on how to do so through Bluehost.

I’ve decided these weekly updates will be posted on weekends and will consist of 7 categories.

  1. Blog posts that I published
  2. Blog Improvements
  3. Personal Accomplishments
  4. Extra Income I earned
  5. Extra Income I received
  6. Goals I accomplished during the week
  7. Goals for Next Week

I know this will be very similar to my monthly income reports, but I think having weekly and monthly goals are going to help me stay focused and break my bigger goals down into smaller ones. This should help me in accomplishing my monthly goals, but also allow me to celebrate additional small successes that may happen throughout each week.

So this is the end of week 16 of the life of my beloved blog! This week was another prep week, which I unfortunately did not do. However, I am going on vacation starting tomorrow and will not have access to wifi or a computer, and I’m hoping that I will have a post published while I am gone. I hope you guys have a great week while I’m gone and I plan to come back at full speed next week!

Blog Improvements:

  1. I did not work on improving the blog this week. Sorry!

Personal Accomplishments:

  1. I  attended a free Pinterest Webinar by Addi Ganley. I am hoping this will help me improve my following on Pinterest!
  2. I completed my third professional development class and earned my Associate’s Certificate in Project Management! It’s really cool that I get to take these classes for free through my current job.

Extra Income I Earned:

(If you would like to learn how you can start earning extra income, check out my Recommendations page) Please note I do not included Google AdSense income here because it isn’t confirmed until a month later.

I am not on my personal computer this week and am unable to check these accounts. I will update these amounts when I get back next week!

Surveys: $0.63 (another low week)

American Consumer Opinion: $9.20 currently in this account. (+ $0.20)

Inbox Dollars: $21.04 (+$0.34)

Swagbucks: 1,453 points (+9 SB)

ShopKick: 15,272 kicks (+130 kicks)

Mystery Shopping: $37.00

Affiliates: $0.00

Extra Income I Received: $0.00

This Week’s Goals:

Originally, I decided that each week I will set 10 small goals for my blog. All of them should be helping me reach my bigger goals that I set each month. I am changing this up because I want to start focusing on one goal at a time and then adding more on as I complete them.

So these were my goals for week 16. Honestly, I wanted this to be another prep week, but I just didn’t end up doing that this week unfortunately.

  1. Continue preparing 12 posts for the future.- Fail.

Next Week’s Goals:

  1. Have 1 post published while I’m on vacation.

Guys this blogging business is so much fun!!!! I am so committed and I can’t wait to see how my blog continues to grow! I do know that growing this blog has become a lot harder now that I have started my new position, but I plan to push through! I hope that you are feeling inspired to start your own blog or to follow your own dreams! If you’d like to start your own blog, I created a tutorial on how to do so using BlueHost. 1. I’ve found taking the pressure of doing more than one post has helped me Amanda. I spend more time promoting my post, which has really worked. I’ll get back to posting more often when I get some automation and traction off the back of 1 post a week.

Keep it up! Still dying to know how you manged to get such a great following on Pinterest. I have no idea why you’re doing a course when you seem to be crushing it with a massive following. If you want to share some Pinterest tips grab me on Twitter 🙂

    • Thanks Lloyd!

I think I’m going to reduce my posts to one a week and then continue to write my starting a blog series. (I hope to continue this series for a span of 1 year and then end it unless it gains a massive following.) I will tweet you about Pinterest.
